With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Dwight King — a cherished member of the dahlia-growing community whose passion, generosity, and knowledge touched so many lives from Ohio to Australia.
Dwight and his wife Alice joined the Dahlia Society of Ohio in 2023. Before that, Dwight was the President of the Dahlia Society of Victoria for 16 years.
Dwight’s love for dahlias was more than a hobby — it was a lifelong pursuit rooted in patience, artistry, and deep respect for nature. Whether he was tending to his garden beds in the Midwest or exchanging growing tips with friends in the Southern Hemisphere, Dwight brought people together through beauty and shared passion.
He was more than a grower; he was a mentor to many, a friend, and an inspiration. His dedication not only cultivated extraordinary blooms, but a sense of community that continues to flourish.
