Experience the beauty of Ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging. Unlike conventional floral design, Ikebana focuses on simplicity, balance, movement, and the natural beauty of each stem, branch, and bloom. Rather than filling a vase, Ikebana celebrates the relationship between the flowers and the surrounding space, creating a thoughtful work of living art.
Join us for a hands-on workshop led by Jean Angus, owner of 1814 Farmhouse.
During this workshop, Jean will guide participants through the fundamentals of Ikebana, including:
Step-by-step instruction on the Ikebana design process
How to create movement, balance, and harmony in an arrangement
Working with branches, pods, and other natural elements to complement your flowers
What to Bring
Please bring approximately three dahlias from your garden to incorporate into your arrangement and your snips. Jean will provide all of the additional floral materials needed to complete your design, including branches, pods, companion flowers, and other natural elements.
Each participant will also receive:
An Ikebana container
A kenzan (floral frog)
All additional materials needed to complete the arrangement
You'll leave with your finished Ikebana arrangement, your container and kenzan, and the knowledge to continue creating arrangements at home.

A public parking garage is located across Lee Road from the winery, behind the restaurants on the opposite side of the street. If you're bringing dahlias or other supplies, you're welcome to pull up to the winery entrance to unload before parking in the garage.
